TLP Oil Rig

You have to hand it to the Norwegians - who else would have thought to use concrete to float an oil rig?

The Heidrun oil and gas field off the coast of Norway was the first use of a tension leg platform design for their rigs.

Floated out to sea with four enormous concrete legs attached, when the platform is in place the legs are dropped down to the sea bed, becoming massive anchors holding the platforms in place.
